Orthotics
Your feet are like wheels on a car, if they are out of alignment they can lead to wear and tear on other parts of your body.
About THe TreatmenT
Orthoses are custom made insoles manufactured especially for YOUR feet and they are designed to decrease abnormal forces in your feet when standing and walking.
Your podiatrist will perform a bio-mechanical assessment, which involves gait analysis, joint range of motion assessment, functional movement testing and muscle testing. This allows the podiatrist to determine the existing alignment and function of your feet in relation to the rest of your body. Poorly aligned feet can cause pain not only in your feet but in your ankles, knees, legs and back. From this assessment orthoses are prescribed.

Orthotics are custom-made shoe inserts designed to provide support and cushioning to the foot. They are often prescribed by podiatrists or orthopedic specialists to treat a variety of conditions such as plantar fasciitis, flat feet, and high arches. Orthotics work by helping to distribute pressure evenly across the foot, reducing strain on specific areas and improving overall foot function.
There are two main types of orthotics: over-the-counter (OTC) and custom-made. OTC orthotics can be purchased at drugstores or online, while custom-made orthotics are created based on the patient’s unique needs through a process that involves an initial evaluation by a specialist followed by the creation of custom inserts.
Orthotics Factsheet
Orthotics are custom-made shoe inserts that can help alleviate foot pain and improve overall foot function. Treatment with orthotics typically involves an initial evaluation by a specialist, followed by the creation of custom inserts based on the patient’s unique needs. With proper use and care, orthotics can provide long-term relief for many foot conditions.
